Each Pipeline HD Dual in a Pipeline Replay system captures two channels of HD-SDI video from live sources and encodes them in real time to Apple ProRes HD. Pipeline's compact, one-rack-unit size offers unparalleled encoding density and portability for easy installation in mobile sports vehicles. Since it is network-based, Pipeline is highly scalable and easy for anyone on the network to access.

Pipeline Replay multi-clip player application
Replay is a multi-clip player that simultaneously synchronizes dozens high-definition camera feeds. With frame accurate timing data, the player can view any point in time to provide you with an accurate picture of what is happening on any section of the track or field. You can even copy content right from the timeline to a laptop or external drive for later review, anytime, anywhere.

Capture IP data stream and add customer metadata
Replay also allows you to capture an event's IP data stream. The time-stamped data is extracted and placed as markers on the timeline with a descriptive name, enabling one-click access directly to the action. Replay also allows custom metadata logging after the event.

Since the system is XML-driven, you can add custom metadata tags and create new markers for incidents you want to review later. It all goes into an XML document that can be used for archiving purposes. Pipeline Replay can easily be customized to ingest time-stamped metadata from multiple sources, making it useful for all types of live, multi-camera events or sports, reality TV production, or applications where review and logging of multiple
camera angles is required.

SES3200 Scalable Encoding System

The Telairity SES3200 is a complete “head-end in a box” solution for customers seeking to maximize encoding density for SD, mobile and PC video while minimizing cost. HD video also can be included if desired. A completely modular design built around the industry-standard ATCA chassis allows for easy scaling of capacity, adding SD encode channels in groups of four. The BE 5504-G is a universal (internationally ready) source-quality modular video I/O and decoder system, capable of handling all MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 (H.264/AVC), HD and SD, SPTS and MPTS input formats, with either 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 chroma sampling. Interfaces are available for DS3/G.703, QPSK, QAM, SDI, ASI, and Ethernet, as well as analog composite and component. Audio inputs may be embedded in an SDI stream, or input separately in digital AES/EBU or analog format. There are no limits on input bit-rate. By default, 1 video and 2 audio channels can be decoded, with an option to add a second video and 2 more audio channels. Transmission packet lengths of both 188 and 204 bytes are supported. DVB-S/S2, -T/T2 tuners available.

Telestream NASCAR Project Wins IBC2012 Innovation Awards

Nevada City and San Jose, California, September 10, 2012 - Telestream®, a leading provider of video transcoding and workflow solutions, and Quantum, a global expert in data protection and big data management, today announced that the NASCAR video capture and replay project incorporating technology from both companies won the prestigious IBC2012 Innovation Award in the Content Management category. Telestream developed the video capture and replay system for NASCAR’s high-speed sports officiating. The award recognized NASCAR and its project partners, including Quantum for its StorNext data management software and CineSys for its disk storage.

“It is an honor for the NASCAR project to be recognized by the IBC,” said Barbara DeHart, vice president of marketing at Telestream. “The new race control system would not have been possible without the collective efforts of NASCARProductions, along with the Telestream, Quantum and CineSys teams. Together, we were able to bring high-quality capture and replay into the race-day operations of one of the most exciting sports around.”

In the fast-paced world of NASCAR racing, where broadcasts reach more than 150 countries, video also plays a key role in controlling NASCAR races. The new race control system is based on Telestream’s Pipeline HD hardware encoder and a new, high-performance, multi-clip Pipeline Replay application.  The scalable, file-based system provides instant capture and synchronous display of 18 high definition (HD) camera feeds, enabling instant access, search, and analysis of an entire race event.

“The instant replay system that Telestream has provided NASCAR this season has enabled our officials to perform their jobs in an even more efficient and time-sensitive manner,” said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR Vice President of Competition. “Having instant access to that many camera angles featuring such high-quality video has been a terrific addition to our race weekends.”

The race control system utilizes high-speed StorNext File System software from Quantum to provide simultaneous access of video content, including the ability to rewind and read while continuing to write from 18 HD cameras. CineSys provided on-site infrastructure, architecture, installation, and technical assistance.
